Three players scored 40 points or better on Tuesday. Leading the pack was the genial David “Jack” Webster with a well earned 42 points. Jack scored 22 points on the front 9 and held his nerve to score 20 points on the back 9. Runner up was the long hitting Chris “Critta” Waters with 41 points. Critta’s score included a 2 stroke penalty for a breach of rule 13-4 for touching or moving loose impediments in a hazard. The infraction was picked up by the eagle eyed colourful local identity Philip “Thomo” Thomson. It pays to know the rules! The third player to reach 40 points was none other than the rapidly improving Eddie “The Flying Dutchman” Van Keulen who came undone in the dying stages.with splits of 21/19. All three were promptly dealt with by the acting handicapper, each loosing a stroke from their handicap.

The Flying Dutchman pushes his tee shot on the 16th. This shot may have cost him the competition.

Thomo was next with 38, followed by Neil Webster 37 & Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel 36. There was a big gap to Dick Cleland who had the best score on the back 9 of 21, for a total of 31. A faster start will be necessary to feature in the prizes. The Mars Bar went to the mercurial Bob Taylor who found himself in some challenging positions. Bob Total was 26, 13 each way.
