A field of 14 took to the links in perfect weather on Saturday to contest the much loved stableford competition.
Dick Secomb proved the experts wrong by comfortably completing 18 holes with 41 points. His 9 hole split of 21/20 showed no signs of fading on the run home. Runner up was Dick Cleland with 37 points, finding that 15 holes of good golf was no match for the masterly Secomb. Two strokes further back on 35 were a clutch of golfers consisting of Geoff Ashby (Peterborough), Andy Phillips, David “Robbie” Robinson, Andy Spackman & Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel. Luke Spackman scored 34 followed by Mark “Mouldy” Millward, Michael “Tickers” Tickner & Eddie “The Flying Dutchman” Van Keulen all on 33. Chris “Critta” Waters scored 32 & Bob Perry 31.
Of great concern is the continuing poor form of colourful local identity Philip “Thomo” Thomson. Thomo has received the Mars Bar for the last 3 Saturdays and is showing no sign of regaining the form we all know he is capable of. Thomo scored 30 points & while Thomo is despondent his grandchildren are delighted by the constant supply of Mars Bars.
