The rescheduled Burra Hotels Ambrose was held on Sunday in warm sunny conditions with just a slight breeze, ideal for golf.

The Club wishes to thank Coopers Brewery, The Commercial Hotel, The Burra Hotel & The Royal Exchange Hotel who generously sponsored the event.

A field of 48 players in 12 teams contested the event and enjoyed the conditions greatly enhanced by the provision of refreshment & steak & sausage sandwiches at Dick Secomb’s tent erected near the 5th & 11th tees.

The winners of the championship (best gross score) the Kapunda #1 team of D Carson, W Strangward, B Pearce & J Lindablab, who carded a score of 61.

In the handicap section the Chairman’s team, made up of Burra trio Dick Cleland, Bob Perry, & Eddie “The Flying Dutchman Van Keulen plus Klaus Heymann of Peterborough scored a stunning victory with a net 54.875, 3.25 strokes clear of the runner up.

Particularly disappointing was the performance of the Burra #3 team which featured Summer specialist Philip “Thomo” Thomson and Shawn “Sheep” Rayson. They finished well out the running for any prizes except the encouragement award (Mars Bar) which they avoided by 0.625 of a stroke. This award went to the Peterborough #2 team of A O’Dea, A Borowiche, A Ranarwitz & G Kennewell.
