Poor scores on Saturday

Scores for Saturday’s par competition were very disappointing to say the least. There was a 5 way tie for first place largely because the winning score of -1 would normally be in the middle of the field. It should be noted that a score of +2 is required for the Burra men to play to their handicap.

The winner on a countback was visitor Wes Thomson, son of colourful local identity Philip “THomo” Thomson. Runner up was Matt  “Oppy” Opperman, while the other players on -1 were Gordon “The Chook Man” Kakoschke, Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel & Michael “Tickers” Tickner. Trevor Austin, David “Robbie” Robinson & Eddie “The Flying Dutchman” van Keulen all scored -2 followed by the mercurial Bob Taylor, Darryl Venning & Chris “Critta” waters on -4. Colourful local identity “Philip “Thomo” Thomson could manage only -5 but the Mars Bar went to Dick Cleland with a disastrous -7.
