The mercurial Bob Taylor won today’s mulligan competition with a score of 20 stableford points. Close on Bob’s heals was trio Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel, Dick Cleland & David “Jack” Webster on 19. Gus The Good Guy took 2nd place on a countback, while Dick considers the cost of two 4 putt greens. Eddie “The Flying Dutchman” Van Keulen scored 18 while Any Phillips received the Mars Bar with an unusually high score of 17 points.
Returning from a forced break from golf, Eddie “The Flying Dutchman” Van Keulen wasted no time delivering a broadside to Tuesday’s field. Despite appearing to be listing to port by the last hole The Dutchman scored 37 stableford points, three points clear of his nearest rival. David “Robbie” Robinson & Neil Webster were next best on 34 points with Robbie taking the golf ball on a countback. David “Jack” Webster and colourful local identity Philip “Thomo” Thomson scored 32 followed by Bob Taylor 31 & Andy Phillips 30. The remaining 3 players had somewhat ordinary scores with Dick Cleland 27, Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel 26 &
Derek Fletcher taking the Mars Bar with 25.

The attendance at Sunday’s auction was down slightly on previous auctions. There were a great many bargains to be had however but we understand that the takings while down were still satisfactory.
The club would like to thank auctioneers Connor Lamond & Tim Taplin for giving their services to the club. Once again there was a strong team of club members to ensure the smooth running of the auction. This time Bob Taylor had to manage the barbecue without the assistance of Gordon “The Chook Man” Kakoschke. It appears the lure of big prize money saw The Chook Man deciding to play bowls instead.
David “Jack” Webster & Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel tied with scores of 3 up with Jack successful on the count back. Dick Cleland was hot on their heels with +2. There was then a gap to Mark “Mouldy” Millward & colourful local identity Philip “Thomo” Thomson on -2. Bradtke Stockman showed a remarkable recovery from a poor start, being 7 down after 7 and finishing with -3. Keep an eye on Bradtke. Michael “Tickers” Tickner & Chris “Critta” Waters also finished with -3. Andy Phillips & Kobi Wenzel finished with -4. Shawn “Sheep” Rayson’s game highlighted the risks associated with insufficient golfing. Sheep took the Mars Bar with -9!
Andrew Hall overcame a slow start to win today’s mulligans on a countback from Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel & mulligan specialist Dick Secomb. All three finished with 19 stableford points. The other two competitors Dick Cleland & Andy Phillips both scored 17 points with a countback required to award Andy with the Mars Bar.
