Dick Cleland followed up last night’s Burra Malt Club tasting with a stunning 41 stableford points to demolish today’s field. Dick was advised by his physician 15 years ago of the health benefits of drinking single malt whisky and he has followed this advice assiduously ever since. Runner up was David “Jack” Webster on a count back from colourful local identity Philip “Thomo” Thomson, both scoring 36. Chris “Critta” Waters scored 33 followed by the mercurial Bob Taylor on 32. A count back was required to award the Mars Bar with Eddie “The Flying Dutchman” & Neil Webster both scoring 31. Neil received the confectionery.
Chris “Critta” Waters was the only player to break his handicap with a score of +3 in Saturday’s par competition. A clutch of players finished square with Kobi Wenzel taking second on a count back from grandpa Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel & Dick Secomb. Dick showed once again that he is better suited to 9 hole competitions leading the field with +3 at the turn before fading on the homeward 9. Dick Cleland, Mark “Mouldy” Millward & David “Jack” Webster scored -1, followed by Geoff Ashby (Peterborough), Michael “Tickers” Tickner & Brett Wallis on -2 & David “Robbie” Robinson -3.
A count back was needed to determine the Mars Bar be tween Bob Perry & colourful local identity Philip “Thomo” Thomson who both finished with -4. Thomo received the confectionery.
