Tickers Takes Out Tuesday Comp in Low Soring Affair

Michael “Tickers” Tickner took out today’s stableford with 37 points. Runner up was Dick Cleland was second with 35, edging out Andy Phillips on a count back. In form player Pat Hallion failed to fire finishing with just 32 but he shouldn’t be written off just yet. Derek Fletcher took the Mars Bar with 22 points.

A good field of 12 played but scores were disappointing, with players possibly having difficulty with the lack of wind.

The Pat Hallion Juggernaut Rolls On

Pat Hallion continues to take all before him winning Saturday’s par competition with a score of +2. Pat’s Handicap has now dropped from 18 to 14 since December 29, but this seems to have no effect. The closest to Pat were a group of 5 players on -1, with Mark “Mouldy” Millward gaining 2nd on a count back. At the other end of the field a count back was required to determine the Mars Bar with Dick Cleland & Andy Spackman both on -3. Andy received the chocolate.

Brilliant Scores in New Years Day Golf

If today’s results are any indication, we are in for some cracking golf in 2019. Dick Cleland emerged from weeks in Mars Bar territory while Pat Hallion continued his surge towards form of days gone by. Both scored 43 stableford points with Dick prevailing on a count back. Dick could only manage 24 points on Saturday so his new year resolution to get some practice seems to be paying off already, although he hasn’t started yet. The mercurial Bob Taylor & Trevor Maxted both scored 42. The handicapper was ruthless, deducting 1 stroke from the handicaps of all four..

Good Turn Out for Par 3 Competition

Fifteen players turned out for the unique par 3 contest devised by popular Club Captain Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel despite the possible bias in the handicapping system.

Jack Webster on a Roll

David “Jack” Webster continues a successful December with another win on Tuesday. Jack scored 38 points sufficient to beat longer handicappers Pat Hallion & colourful local identity Philip  “Thomo” Thomson who tied for second with 37 each. The handicapper took another bite out of Jack’s handicap and he now finds himself on 12 joining the serious golfers. Michael “Tickers” Tickner was disappointing again and we can just hope that this is a hiccup.
