All players in Saturday’s stableford failed to play to their handicaps. The best result was Russell “Gus The Good” Guy Wenzel who returned a score of one over his handicap with a score of 37 points. A count back was required to sort out the runner up with Dick Secomb prevailing over Pat Hallion, both returning 36 points. The Mars Bar went to Richard “Pickles” Matz with 23 points while Michael “Tickers” Tickner still stuggles to find form.

Dick Cleland, enjoying the benefit of playing with a good player (colourful local identity Philip “Thomo” Thomson) turned in a well balanced round of 41 stableford points with a 21/20 split. Thomo got away to a slow start but pushed Dick on the back 9 keeping him on his game. Runner up was David “Jack” Webster with 37 while Thomo & Andy Phillips scored 36. Michael “Tickers” Tickner continues to search for form narrowly avoiding the Mars Bar.
Colourful local identity Philip “Tommo” Thomson showed magnificent composure to win today’s stableford event by 2 strokes. Tommo scored 40 points with an even 20/20 split. Despite some setbacks on the homeward 9 that would have sunk a lesser competitor Tommo negotiated the challenges. Runner up was Andy Spackman on 38 points while Dick Cleland and Big Trev Maxted both finished on 37.
A count back was required between Richard Secomb & Richard “Pickles” Matz to decide the Mars Bar.
Six girls braved the cool windy weather this morning. Sharyn Roberts won the day with a respectable 36 points from runner up Andrea Rowe 35 points. Peg Gebhardt was nearest the pin on hole 8 and Di Day won the extra comp with 11 drives on fairway.
Trevor Maxted thrashed today’s field scoring a blistering 40 stableford points in blustery conditions. The runners up, Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel & Michael “Tickers” Tickner were 6 points back on 34, with Gus getting the ball on a count back. The inconsistent Dick Cleland followed up Saturday’s win with the Mars Bar.
Dick Cleland started slowly in Saturday’s par round being 3 down at the turn. A homeward 9 of +5 gave him a total of +2 just 1 better than more fancied players, Michael “Tickers” Tickner & colourful local identity Philip “Tommo” Thomson. On the other hand Eddie “The Flying Dutchman” had a promising start turning at +1 before lack of fitness saw him fade on the run home to collect his 2nd Mars Bar in 2 weeks.
