Today’s mulligans was won by Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel with 18 points from Andy Phillips 17. Star performer Richard “Pickles” could only manage 16 points. Dick Cleland took both nearest the pins and the Mars Bar.
The mercurial Bob Taylor has stopped the run of handicap superstar Richard “Pickles” Matz with an outstanding score in Tuesday’s stableford. Bob scored an astounding 41 points to push Pickles into 2nd place on 38. To rub salt into the wound the handicapper savaged Pickles removing another stroke from his handicap. Neil Webster took the Mars Bar.
David “Jack” Webster defeated defending champion, Matt Opperman, in a hard fought battle going to the 35th hole & winning 2 & 1. Today’s result reverses last year’s result.

Congratulations to all players for providing such exiting and well fought matches. All the photos were taken before the start of play which probably explains why everyone except Pat Hallion is smiling.

The championship semifinals were played on Saturday with A grade presenting two close matches. Boh “Van Pelt” Wall took defending champion Matt Opperman all the way to the 18th hole before losing 2 down. In the other match David “Jack” Webster defeated Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel 3 & 2, setting up a rematch of last year’s final.
In B grade the matches were not close with Richard “Pickles” Matz returning to the winners circle defeating Kobi Wenzel 6 & 4. If Pickles keeps this up we will enter him in the Burra Show. In the other match Chris “Critta Waters crushed Andy Phillips 5 & 4. The final between Pickles & Critta will be of great interest indeed.
In C grade the players seemed to have trouble organising themselves which is probably why they are in C grade. Peter Weiss !0 & 8 received a forfeit from Bob Taylor while Trevor Maxted & Trevor Maxted hope to play their match before the final.
The finals will be played next Sunday with the A grade hitting off at 9:00 am. If you would like to watch the finals, please try to get there early as, due to covid-19 restrictions we are limited to 1000 people on the golf course.
