“David Jack” Webster defeated Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel in their semi-final of the Jennison Handicap Match Play Cup yesterday. In a hard fought tussle  Jack finished 1 up to just edge out the Good Guy. Jack appeared untroubled by the reduction in his handicap after Tuesday’s round and is the form player going in to the final.

The other match was a study of opposites with the mild mannered Bob Perry’s unflustered approach against the explosive power of Chris “Critta” Waters. The match see-sawed with each player taking a turn in the lead before Bob managed to finish 2 up after the 18th. Our video demonstrates Bob’s calm unhurried approach to golf.

The final will be played on Saturday March 18.

In his wake 5 strokes in arrears with 36 points each were the mercurial Bob Taylor & colourful local identity Philip “Thomo” Thomson. Bob was runner up on a count back as Thomo’s fitness gave out on the back 9 fading to 15 points for the 9 after being in a competitive position at the turn. This only left Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel to take the Mars Bar with 33 points.
