Dick Cleland won today’s stableford with 41 points, a significant improvement on his -7 in Saturday’s par comp. Dick attributes his improvement to playing with better players recently, in particular he has played with Philip “Tommo” Thomson 3 times since Saturday. Runner up was Trevor Maxted on 36. David “Jack” Webster took the Mars Bar with 31, on a count back from Andy Phillips.

Phillip “Tommo” Thomson was 7 up in Saturday’s par round after 15 holes and seemed set for a sensational score. Unfortunately an attack of nerves took hold and Phillip lost the next 2 holes. A nervous 4 foot put was holed for a half on the 18th which left Tommo with a 1 hole lead over playing partner Pat Hallion. Despite playing well Dick Cleland took the Mars Bar after suffering a great deal of jolly bad luck.
Pat Hallion starred in what was a high scoring day, scoring 42 stableford points to win by 3 points over Trevor Maxted, Andy Phillips & Tommo, who were all on 39. With exception of the Mars Bar recipient all scores were 30 or better.

Andy Phillips surprised everyone, including himself, with a blistering net 65 in today’s stroke round. Andy was 7 strokes clear of joint runners up, Trevor Maxted & Peter Weiss on net 72. Given the excellent conditions, the remaining scores were disappointing. Dick Cleland posted the worst score collecting the Mars Bar.
David “Jack” Webster won today’s stableford on a count back from Pat Hallion. Both scored creditable 39 points. Runner up was Kobi Wenzel on 38 rounding off a great result at the top of the field. The scores fell away from there with the Mars Bar going to the lawn mowing specialist Dick Secomb with 28 points.
Despite a high North Westerly wind the scores were generally good in today’s stableford. Pat Hallion scored 38 points to finish just ahead of Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel on 37. Even the Mars Bar score of Chris “Critta’ Waters was not too bad in the conditions.
Players responded with enthusiasm to the arrival of the summer season, with improved scores at both ends of the field. The winner was Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel with 42 points, comfortably ahead joint runners up David “Jack” Webster & Kobi Wenzel. Even the joint Mars Bar recipients, Trevor Maxted & Dick Secomb scored 30 points.

Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel played a steady round of golf scoring a handicap equalling 38 points, albeit that handicap was a generous 14. A count back was required to decide runner up with Chris “Critta” Waters edging out Dick Clelannd after both finished on 36. It was good to see colourful local identity, Philip “Tommo” Thomson show some improvement to get out of the 20s just.
