Crows 39-54-288 defeated Tigers 12-16-88

Using a unique scoring system based on the par competition and devised by the imaginative Gus The Good Guy, 9 players played golf “football” on Saturday. As can be seen by the scores below the footy scores bear little relationship to the golf score, although Robbie had the best round by both scoring systems. The Crows won handsomely because they had 7 players to the Tigers 2. This is something the Adelaide Football Club should consider next year.

Sadly the Crows performance at the MCG mirrored that of their keenest Burra supporter, Gordon “The Chook Man” Kakoschke.  The Chook Man jumped out of the blocks and was 5 up with 6 goals 2 after 9 holes. On the back 9 he was 5 down & added just 4 points to his footy score.

The Mars Bar went to Gus The Good Guy.

Chook Man Disappointed Again

Six players took part in today’s 9 hole mulligan event. Gordon “The Chook Man” Kakoschke failed to consolidate a good start and was overtaken by Dick Cleland in a thrilling finish. Six players ventured out in gale force winds that had them struggling to stay on their feet at times. Russell “Gus The Good Guy” wenzel & colourful local identity Philip “Thomo” Thomson played early in calmer conditions and Gus The Good Guy was able to take advantage while Thomo failed to do so.

Gus was winner with a score of 36 points while runner up was the best of the afternoon players David “Jack’ webster whose 31 points was a creditable effort in the tough conditions. Thomo was next with 29 followed by Dick Cleland 27, Bob Perry 26 & Mars Bar recipient Michael “Tickers” Tickner with 24.

The assistant handicapper rewarded Gus The Good Guy with a handicap reduction, while demonstrating his compassion in increasing Bob Perry’s & Dick Cleland’s handicaps by one stroke each.
