The mercurial Bob Taylor continued where he left off on Tuesday to win today’s 9-hole mulligan competition. Bob scored 24 points for another comfortable win. Runner up was Andrew Hall with 21. Andy Phillips & David “Jack” Webster scored 20, Michael “Tickers” Tickner 19, Dick Cleland & Peter Mengerson 17 & Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel 15. Former mulligan specialist Dick Secomb took the Mars Bar with 12 points.
The Mercurial Bib Taylor handled the strong wind on Tuesday to coast to a comfortable win. Bob scored 39 stableford points, an excellent score in the conditions, to beat runner up Michael “Tickers” Tickner who scored 37. David “Jack” Webster was next on 36, followed by Neil Webster 35, Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel 32, Dick Cleland 31, Andy Phillips 30, colourful local identity Philip “Thomo” Thomson while Chris “Critta” Waters took the Mars Bar with 25.
Only 4 players ventured out in the cold, wind & rain on Saturday, while their colleagues chose to stay by the fire & watch their football teams get beaten.
Young Kobi Wenzel was the only player to master the conditions returning an excellent score of plus 2. The remaining players were totally outclassed by both Kobi & the weather. Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel scored -4 While Andy Phillips & David “Jack” Webster could only manage -6.
On Thursday 7 players took part in 9 hole mulligans in unusually pleasant conditions. The was a gentle breeze and a cloudless sky such as we have not seen for many weeks or seen since. Michael “Tickers” Tickner was the only player able to adjust to the calm conditions scoring 23 stableford points. Next best was Peter Mengerson with 17. Dick Cleland scored 16,Andy Phillips & Dick Secomb 15, Bob Taylor 13 & Andrew Hall took the Mars Bar with 11.

Best score was 33 stableford points by Andy Phillips. Runner up was Michael “Tickers” Tickner with 30. David “Jack” Webster scored 29 & Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel took the Mars Bar with 27.
Scores were unimpressive in yesterday’s men’s stableford event. The mercurial Bob Taylor was best with 36 points. Runner up was Graham Webster with 34 followed well back by Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel & “Mad” Max Wiech on 30. Dick Cleland scored 29 & Chris “Critta” Waters 28. The tail of the field was made up of next Sunday’s B Grade finalists David “Jack” Webster with 25 points & Andy Phillips who took the Mars Bar with just 19 points. We hope they both find better form on Sunday.

Gordon “The Chook Man” Kakoschke won the delayed semi final defeating Kobi Wenzel 7&6 to set up a clash with arch rival the mercurial Bob Taylor in the C Grade final next Sunday.

Eight remaining players contested a par round with David “Jack” Webster showing himself to be approaching top form for the upcoming B Grade final on Sunday. Jack scored 3 up to comfortably beat runner up the a fore mentioned Bob Taylor who finished square. Mark “Mouldy” Millward and A Grade contender Michael “Tickers” Tickner were next with -2. Dick Secomb finished with -3 while Dick Cleland & visitor Ric Wale scored -4. Dick was -7 after 9 holes but no one can come back from there.

The Mars Bar went to colourful local identity Philip “Thomo” Thomson with -5.
Championship semi finals were played on Saturday setting up a titanic clash in both A & B grades.

In A grade, defending champion Matt Opperman had little trouble in sweeping aside Dick Cleland 7 & 5. In the other match 2016 champion Michael “Tickers” Tickner came from behind to defeat Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel 2 & 1.

In B grade Andy Phillips defeated Andy Spackman 4 & 3 while David “Jack” Webster defeated Mark “Mouldy” Millward 1 up in the match of the day.

In C grade the mercurial Bob Taylor caused a major upset defeating pre race favourite Neil Webster 2 up. The remaining C grade semi final between Gordon “The Chook Man” Kakoschke & Kobi Wenzel is to be played next week.
There were only 4 players not involved in the championships and they played a stableford. Winner was Trevor Maxted with 33 points.Gordon “The Chook Man” Kakoschke was runner up on a count back from colourful local identity Philip “Thomo” Thomson both omn 30. The Mars Bar went to potential new member Richard “Pickles” Matz.
