Saturday’s field was reduced to only 6 players as members rushed to attend the Burra Antiques Fair. Scores were only average with Dick Cleland scoring a handicap equalling 38 points after a late fade. Although Dick faltered under pressure 3 putting the last two greens, he still managed to finish 1 point clear of the consistent if unspectacular Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel on 37. Matt Opperman was third though well back on 33 just ahead of colourful local identity Philip “Thomo” Thomson 32. Gordon “The Chook Man” Kakoschke struggled once again and his score of 30 is somewhat flattering as he needed 4 points on the final hole to reach 30. Darryl Venning collected the Mars Bar with 25. The handicapper, somewhat unreasonably, docked Dick’s handicap 1 stroke.
