The mercurial Bob Taylor has stopped the run of handicap superstar Richard “Pickles” Matz with an outstanding score in Tuesday’s stableford. Bob scored an astounding 41 points to push Pickles into 2nd place on 38. To rub salt into the wound the handicapper savaged Pickles removing another stroke from his handicap. Neil Webster took the Mars Bar.
Today’s mulligans competition saw Richard “Pickles” Matz win yet again despite the drastic action taken by the handicapper. Runner up was Dick Cleland with an overdue improvement in form while Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel took the Mars Bar. Dick Cleland took both nearest the pins, on holes 4 & 15.
Three father & son teams and two teams made up of fathers payed in the social ambrose on Fathers Day. Father & son teams were Boh & Harry Wall, Trevor & Neil Maxted & Brett Wallis & Kobi Wenzel. The other teams were Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel & Richard “Pickles” Matz, and David “Jack” Webster & Dick Cleland.

A good time was had by all. These social 2 man ambrose events are held on the first Sunday of the month @ 10:00 am and are intended for the golfer and non golfer alike.
Richard “Pickles” Matz has returned to his winning ways with an astounding 42 stableford points leaving the field devastated in his wake. Pickles scored 42 stableford points winning by 5 points. Runners up were the mercurial Bob Taylor & Chris “Critta” Waters with 37. Trevor Maxted took the Mars Bar.
The handicapper has finally awoken from his slumber and deducted 2 strokes from Pickles’ handicap.
Players not involved in championship semi finals played a par round with Peter Weiss successful with a score of 1 down. Dick Cleland was runner up with down while Bevan Ladhams to the Mars Bar with several more down.
The championship semifinals were played on Saturday with A grade presenting two close matches. Boh “Van Pelt” Wall took defending champion Matt Opperman all the way to the 18th hole before losing 2 down. In the other match David “Jack” Webster defeated Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel 3 & 2, setting up a rematch of last year’s final.
In B grade the matches were not close with Richard “Pickles” Matz returning to the winners circle defeating Kobi Wenzel 6 & 4. If Pickles keeps this up we will enter him in the Burra Show. In the other match Chris “Critta Waters crushed Andy Phillips 5 & 4. The final between Pickles & Critta will be of great interest indeed.
In C grade the players seemed to have trouble organising themselves which is probably why they are in C grade. Peter Weiss !0 & 8 received a forfeit from Bob Taylor while Trevor Maxted & Trevor Maxted hope to play their match before the final.
The finals will be played next Sunday with the A grade hitting off at 9:00 am. If you would like to watch the finals, please try to get there early as, due to covid-19 restrictions we are limited to 1000 people on the golf course.

Pat Hallion is firming as favourite to win the Bogisch Cup following his big win in today’s stableford. Pat scored 34 points to win very comfortably from Bob Taylor, David “Jack” Webster and Russell “Gus The Good Guy” Wenzel who all finished with 34 points.
The quarter finals of the Bogisch Handicap Matchplay Cup have been completed and tournament favourite, Richard “Pickles” Matz has been bundled out by the long hitting Chris “”Critta” Waters 4 & 3.
Golfers on Saturday struggled in windy conditions with scores being disappointing. Even the in form Richard “Pickles” Matz could only manage 32 stableford points but it was enough to cement his 4th win in a row. David “Robbie” Robinson was runner up with 31, the only other player to score 30 or more. Bevan Ladhams took the Mars Bar.
