Thomo in Back 9 Collapse – Again!

Colourful local identity Philip “Thomo” Thomson suffered a collapse of gargantuan proportions yesterday. Playing in a stableford competition amongst the also rans (i.e. those no longer required for Jennison Cup duties) Thomo made the turn with 21 points just 1 off the lead. In what is probably the biggest collapse in the Club’s history, Thomo could only manage 6 points on the homeward 9 for a total of 27. This casts a big question over Thomo’s fitness.

Dick Cleland lead at the turn with 22 and he too struggled on the back 9 scoring 14 for a total of 36. This was just enough to take the honours as Dick finished just 1 point ahead of the steady, if not spectacular, Michael “Tickers” Tickner on 35.  The handicapper deucted a stroke from Dick’s handicap. Eddie “The Flying Dutchman” Van Keulen finished third with 33 after a disappointing back 9 (13), while Tarcowie visitor Klaus Heymann scored 30. Mark “Mouldy” Millward continues to struggle with 29 points. Mouldy’s handicap has now blown out to 14 which is as high as it can go until October. The Mars Bar went to Thomo who as mentioned earlier scored 27.
