Mouldy Beats Andy on Count Back

On Saturday a par round was played and our ever popular vice captain, Mark “Mouldy” Millward edged out handicapper, Andy Phillips. As all golfers will understand, the popularity of the handicapper varies from member to member and from time to time. Both returned scores of one up. Next best were a string of players on -2. Bob Perry took the Mars Bar with -12. Bob played well but was just unlucky.

Mouldy Wins Heritage Classic – Daylight Second

Mark “Mouldy’ Millward was too strong for the rest of the men’s field in the Heritage Classic held on Adelaide Cup Day (March 8). Mouldy scored 39 points. The remaining scores were ordinary to say the least with runner up Richard “Pickles” Matz managing only 35 points. Possibly the biggest surprise was the exceptionally poor showing by Pat Hallion who scored 24 points and the Mars Bar.

Men’s Saturday Results – February 20 to March 5

These scores are certainly better than the Tuesday scores recently published but are by no means overwhelming. The winning score of Richard “Pickles” on the 20th is impressive while the other winning scores are just ok. Pickles won two of the three competitions and Pat Hallion scored 36 on both of his outings and so they will have the privilege of having their photos published. Unfortunately Tommo has not earned that privilege as the photos of Tommo we have on file are by far the best.

The results were certainly not brilliant, in fact only the scores on the 30th were acceptable. Trevor Maxted did manage some consistency and has earned the right to have his photo published.

Tommo Bundled Out in Jennison Quarter Final

Three of the four quarter finals were played on Saturday for the Jennison Handicap Match Play Cup. As luck would have it the two form players of the past month, David “Robbie” Robinson and Philip “Tommo” Thomson drawn together. Robbie put any disputes about who was in better form by beating Tommo conclusively 4 & 3. In other matches Pat Hallion defeated Peter Weiss 5 & 4 while the match between Chris “Critta” Waters and Mark “Mouldy” Millward proved to be the match of the day with Critta taking 20 holes to defeat the ever valiant Mouldy. The remaining quarter final between David “Jack” Webster and Andy Phillips is still to be played.

Robbie defeated Tommo by a healthy margin.
