Tommo Chokes

Colourful local identity Philip “Tommo” Thomson breezed through the front 9 with a spectacular 21 stableford points. From here no one could beat Tommo, he would have to lose. And that is exactly what he did. Tommo scored a mere 12 points on the back 9 to finish 5th in a field of 11. Dick Cleland, playing with Tommo, scored a steady 37 points (well below Tommo’s projected target) to win the day. Runner up was Paul Smedley, back from Denmark for a holiday with 36. Tommo Shock

Tommo Mars Bar Shock

Tommo fans will be dismayed to hear that their hero took the Mars Bar on Tuesday in an uncharacteristic display. Matters came to a head on the 9th hole when Tommo hit the same tree three times. Tommo later remarked “if it hadn’t been for that tree I would have avoided the Mars Bar”. When it was pointed out that the tree had been there for 50 years, Tommo remarked “I guess I hadn’t noticed it before”.

The competition was won by Russell “Gus The Good Guy” who returned an excellent score of 38. The ever improving Michael Shepley was runner up with 37. The acting handicapper, deducted a stroke from each of the 3 leaders’ handicaps.
